|
£375.00 |
| A good condition RAF Sgt Navigators uniform of four pocket tunic & trousers, together with his flight logbook, wallet, note books & photo's etc. Tunic has flight Sgt insignia of stripes to each sleeve, topped by a brass kings crown, also has the RAF eagle patches to each shoulder and a nice padded navigators brevet wing to the left breast, there is a metal ring attached to the right collar for a whistle, inside the tunic has a makers label marked size 7, tunic has been stamped with the owners service number and the 1939 dated wound dressing in its internal pocket, also has his name & number. The leather wallet contains paper money from africa, italy & france, together with a small photo of a wife or girlfriend and three others of service life, there is also a postcard & a issue hymbook. There is a studio portrait photo of him in uniform showing various medal ribbons and a MID, there is also a group photo taken on a course, also included is a navigators notebook containing what looks like navigation notes for a RAF Coastal Command launch in the 1950's, together with a navak issue jacknife with his name & number inscribed. The logbook starts with a short bombing course in july 1944, then changing to a navigators course in canada & england finishing in july 1945 so just missing wartime operations, his last entries in england between sept 44 & july 45 were with coastal command exercises, the bulk of his flights were with Ansons. It appears his early part of the war was spent as a LAC in armament and accounts for his time in africa, italy & france, then in 1944 he transferred for flight training, then after the war went on to serve in coastal command in the air and on water, so a long service career and there is plenty to research here, a nice collection of varied items. |
